Mora Melican, Ph.D., VP of Operations, Research & Development

As VP of Operations and R&D, Dr. Mora Melican leads a team responsible for the development and commercialization of allograft technologies to advance the treatment of chronic wounds. She has multiple years’ experience managing bioprograms for major biomedical enterprises, leveraging her scientific and engineering background to drive product innovation. She was also manager of research and development at the Johnson & Johnson Biomaterial Center for over eight years, where she developed novel implantable materials for a variety of medical applications including wound healing.

Dr. Melican is a strategic thinker and innovator with over 30 U.S. patents, specializing in medical devices and implantable materials. She has a track record of effectively managing technical teams to create value and drive new product development. She is also active in mentoring minorities pursuing careers in STEM.

Her educational background includes a bachelor’s and master’s in Ceramic Engineering, both from Rutgers University. Dr. Melican went on to earn a joint Ph.D. degree in Biomaterials Engineering (from Rutgers University and the New Jersey Medical School).
