Joe Spell, CEO
Joe Spell is a serial entrepreneur who founded one of the largest independent spinal implant distributorships in the Gulf Coast region, as well as three other successful niche medical device companies. Mr. Spell was co-founder of LumTech Solutions, a hospital sterilization company that was sold in 2011 to Sanitas Inc. His biotechnology companies have introduced a number of emerging technologies to the Gulf Coast region, as well as to the Department of Veterans Affairs. He co-founded Tides Medical in 2009. Mr. Spell graduated with a Bachelor of Science in marketing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Isabella Sledge, MD, MPH, Vice President of Research
Dr. Sledge is the vice president of research and founder of Tides Medical. She is a board certified internist and health outcomes researcher who has published and presented on numerous topics, including the importance of outcomes data in the development of healthcare technologies. Dr. Sledge received her medical degree from University of Maryland School of Medicine and holds a Master of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health.
Doug Payne, President
Doug Payne is president of Tides Medical. Mr. Payne brings over 10 years experience in the medical device and regenerative medicine industries, holding various positions with companies such as Medtronic, US Spinal Technologies and Spinal Elements. Mr. Payne has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Memphis and a Master of Business Administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
Mary Hoagland, Vice President of Reimbursement
Mary Hoagland is the VP of reimbursement and market access. Ms. Hoagland has more than 12 years of experience in reimbursement leadership at various pharmaceutical and biotech companies. She is experienced in field reimbursement management, HUB development and operations, payer communication, and has successfully launched several products in the regenerative medicine space. Ms. Hoagland has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Communication from University of California, Davis.
Lex Harris, Vice President of Global Sales
Lex Harris has 20 years of experience in the medical device and regenerative medicine industries. After working with Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson, Mr. Harris joined Synthes Orthopedic Trauma division as a sales consultant. His career evolved from there with a move to Raleigh, NC where he started working for Lifecell, to launch Alloderm and Strattice. After the purchase of Lifecell by KCI, Mr. Harris held both sales and Regional Director positions with Advanced BioHealing, introducing Dermagraft to the market. After the sale of ABH to Shire, Mr. Harris joined MiMedx where he was the National Sales Director and then promoted to VP of Sales. Most recently, Mr. Harris worked with MTF as a National Sales Director. He has a degree in Business Management from Georgia Southern University.
